Hybrid Melee Weapons
This is an addendum to the (recently updated) Expanded Weapon Rules post. I haven’t finalized the value of these items yet, but am posting today anyways.
Hybrid weapons are expertly-built items using Advanced or Ancient technology. Essentially, they are archaic weapons constructed using high-tech methods or materials. Although they require technological expertise to create, they are relatively easy for low-tech characters to wield.
Monowire spools are a reasonably common relic found in Ancient ruins. Deadly and nearly invisible, monofilament can be strung to create hyrbid weapons that cut foes to pieces.

Replacing the monofilament of one of these weapons is considered a Retro-Tech challenge. Care must be taken to avoid injury when stringing monowire, since it is hard to see and cuts almost anything.
Vibro-weapons are another example of hybrid weapons. These are blades surrounded by an invisible high-frequency energy field that gives them enhanced damage capabilities.

Figuring out how to activate a vibro-weapon is considered a Retro-Tech challenge. Unpowered vibro-weapons do conventional damage; e.g., an unpowered vibro-sword is a 1d8 damage weapon.

These are examples of Ancient materials that can be used to construct hybrid weapons. If your PCs get too accustomed to these descriptions, feel free to add in other types such as Alumisteel, Crystal Carbon, Neutronium, Vulcanium, etc.
